The Biz Presents… One-On-One Wednesdays: Chrisfucius
November 17, 2010 Leave a comment
I’ve personally known Chrisfucius since our high school days, and let me tell you this dude is one of the wittiest, funniest, most down to earth good guys I know. He’s worked hard to get where he’s at today and he’s not slowing up anytime soon. The Biz featured Chris at our One Year Anniversary Party and this dude rocked a mean show for the packed Biz crowd. Most of the kids never heard of him before that night, but I can guarantee you he made some new fans that night. So The Biz presents our first One-On-One Wednesday interview with local MC Chrisfucius…
I always hear you call out different aliases and sets in your songs, school us on whats official?
Peace y’all. They call me Chrisfucius a/k/a The Lone Wolf Starship Trooper representing the whole Ox City, 805 and my sets Planet Ox, Plan-Z, and SikFam.
Aight aight let’s get a little deep…What is Hip Hop culture to you?
To me, Hip Hop is a way of life. I always do something that involves Hip Hop everyday, whether it’s listening to it, writing music to create some of my own Hip Hop, or wearing something that has to do with Hip Hop; like the Biz Markie shirt I got on right now. It’s an outlet that enables me to my express myself.
Haha we’ve been thinking about doing a Biz Markie shirt too…So what got you into this culture?
It first started when I was flipping channels one day and I came across Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s music video for Crossroads on MTV. This must’ve been back around 1995 or so. So around that time, I was 7 years old and I was into Bone Thugs, Biggie and Bad Boy, and Jay-Z. When I was in Jr. High, I lost interest in it because I didn’t like what I was hearing on the radio. I listened to more rock at that time. The only Hip Hop acts I liked that were out at that time were Jay-Z, OutKast, and Ludacris. Fast forward to high school around 2003, I came across Gang Starr’s song Rite Where U Stand, which features Jadakiss. That song forever changed how I saw Hip Hop! From there on, I got into more Gang Starr, KRS-One and BDP, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Wu-Tang, etc.
Word. RIP Guru…How about the local scene? Where’s the 805 at?
I see the scene as a hidden gem. The 805 has a lot of talent that has yet to shine and has yet to be exposed to the masses to hear. Even though we have acts like Madlib, Oh No, M.E.D., and others who are doing some big things right now, not a whole lot of people from their hometown even know who they are and I think that’s a shame because they always show their city [Oxnard] love but I feel like they don’t get the recognition that they all deserve. But there’s quite a few cats I know that are coming up in the scene right now who are really dope! I just wish there were more outlets like radio stations and venues that would make it easier for us to get our music and names out.
I feel you man…So Hip Hop is in a sort of rebirth right now with artists like J.Cole … Any parenting tips?
Do for self and not for shelf. That means do it for yourself and don’t do it to cater to something that doesn’t make you happy. For example, you can have a radio hit that you know is wack and make a whole mess of money off of it but at the end of the day, are you happy?
I can always count on you to get deep. Real talk. You’ve done a lot to get to where you’re at today where’s your next stop man?
To be honest, I don’t know because I’ve just been concentrating on right now and not too much on the future [haha]. I have a couple of projects that I’m working on that’ll hopefully come out within the next couple years but I’m just going with the flow right now. As long as I’m able to keep on making music, I’m happy. I’m just focusing on gaining respect and more listeners right now.
So give the fans a little insight what inspires you to write, perform or get busy?
If I had to pick one thing that inspires me for all three, I’d pick the beat. Certain beats set me in certain moods. Hard hitting beats can get me in a raw and wild or even mad mood, sad beats can put me in a sad, self-conscious mood, and cool, relaxing, kick-back beats can set me in a good, relaxed mood.
That’s why we’re keeping it casual with some laid back instrumentals from Vitamin T… Ok so you’re a musician but The Biz deals with the fashion side where does fashion play a role in Hip Hop for you?
I think that many people expect DJs, MCs, graffiti artists, and break dancers to portray a certain image. Like myself, I rock a lot of Hip Hop tees. I have Wu-Tang, Black Star, Gang Starr, Rakim, Biz Markie, Pac, Biggie, Slick Rick and some other Hip Hop shirts. Like Hip Hop, fashion can be used to express yourself.
And soon you’ll be adding some Biz Shop Shirts to that list right? I want to thank you man for taking time to meet up and chop it up. So here’s one last question…shout outs?

Shout out to The Biz for always supporting us, my clicks Planet Ox, Plan-Z (watup Cross!), and the whole SikFam, my parents and the rest of my fam, big up to everyone doing their thing in 805, anyone I’ve worked with and big shout outs to everyone who has supported us from day one to now.
